Artist in Residence
Dundee artist John Stoa runs art classes and private art tuition in his Art Studio from the breakfast room and he also shows his latest exhibition of new paintings.
John
paints in acrylic, oils, watercolour and pastels with a wide range of subjects, however, he specialises in snow scenes, flowers and figurative studies including nudes.
There is an art exhibition of his paintings hanging on the walls.
Visitors are also welcome to view his latest works as they are being painted, or just off the easel and stored in his studio awaiting to be framed before going out on exhibition to several Scottish galleries.
Scottish Inner Hebrides, Benidorm and Broughty Ferry

John has now completed his watercolour paintings of his visit to the island of Islay off the west coast of Scotland at the end of the Whisky Festival. John and Anna also took the ferry over the Sound of Islay from Port Askaig to visit the Jura distillery and paint the Paps of Jura.

Original Art Website
John has his own website www.johnstoa.com which has now grown quite large
.
It started off as a shop window to display his original paintings of Scottish art and limited edition prints of Edinburgh and other towns in Scotland, but slowly grew larger as he painted more images. Then he decided to give some pages to all his art class students and every year there are more students. Extra pages were then needed for information on his art classes and workshops, pages for his latest art exhibitions, pages for information on art commissions, a bibliography page, a "How to Buy" page, site map, and links pages.
Figures and nudes are the subject of the 2008 project, "Coffee and Cream" where colours were kept tonal in the chocolate browns, sienna and yellow ochre range.
These can be found on this page of figure painting and new paintings with the Scottish model Emily can be seen on her link to the series of Temptation.
The Garden Paintings
John paints a fair number of flowers especially orchid flowers, roses and early spring snowdrops which he grows in the large mature garden maintained and developed by himself and Anna who both love gardening.
It seemed logical to share the beauty of the garden with other garden lovers on the internet, so more pages were created for all the different types of plants grown.
These garden pages, now growing at a fast pace can be seen on this link to Anna's Scottish garden.
John and Anna have rented a garden allotment at the City Road Allotment Site in Dundee to grow vegetables, soft fruits and cut flower for the house.
However, it was not long before John realised the potential for paintings within this site of dilapidated fences, semi derelict sheds, greenhouses and other structures and all tended with passion and loving care as an oasis of heaven within a built up urban environment.
These allotment paintings have now been added to the website as the latest venture.
These and all the other pages can be seen on John Stoa's website at www.johnstoa.com and another selection can be seen on You Tube.
